Pasadena, renowned as the “City of Roses,” holds hidden botanical treasures beyond its famous floral symbol. Ever wondered about the camellias, pepper trees, or succulents that grace its landscape?

The wide range of plants and trees surrounding us in Pasadena serve as a virtual time machine, helping us to understand historical trends, conceptions (and MISconceptions) about our climate, as well as the hidden stories of the people who shaped the landscape and lived their lives within it.

Our adventure begins at Arlington Garden, where we'll unveil the rich history of this unique public oasis built on the former site of one of the city's most opulent mansions. Across the street awaits a private tour of Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden, a secluded gem offering an exclusive glimpse into Pasadena's past. Closed to the public during our visit, we’ll enjoy this hidden oasis the way it was in the late 1930s. Guests will have the opportunity to step inside the Niko-an Teahouse for a tranquil experience rarely accessible to visitors. There will also be some time for wandering after the tour has concluded.

As a memento of our botanical odyssey, each guest will receive an exclusive guide to discover more of Pasadena's magnificent botanical history, both lost and preserved. The lesser-known spots featured are sure to make you feel like you've stumbled upon a well-guarded secret.
