Straddling the border of Altadena and Pasadena, East Washington Village was built up mostly in the 20th century. Businesses catering to the guests of the nearby Painter (later La Pintoresca) Hotel - built in 1887 - encouraged more people to move to the area permanently. Nearby residential neighborhoods like Bungalow Heaven and Washington Square are now officially-designated historic districts. The commercial spaces along Washington Blvd house some of Pasadena’s favorite independent businesses. On this tour, we’ll explore this walkable, charming neighborhood and catch a glimpse of life along Washington Boulevard.
